  • Reaffirmation of regional accreditation by SACSCOC
  • Creation of an Honors Program and articulation agreements to premier universities
  • Received more than $5 million in lobbied funds and grants to support programs and facilities improvements

In addition, during Dr. Sidor’s tenure, the College addressed both disaster recovery from Hurricane Irma and continues to navigate the public health implications of the COVID-19 pandemic.

“On behalf of the District Board of Trustees, I would like to thank Dr. Sidor for his leadership and advocacy to Lake-Sumter State College over the past six years, during what has been a challenging and transformative period in higher education,” said Tim Morris, Chair of the LSSC District Board of Trustees. “We appreciate his service to the College and look forward to continuing to deliver on our mission of serving students in this community.”

In making the announcement, Dr. Sidor shared his appreciation for the opportunity to serve as LSSC’s sixth president.

“Personally, I will miss every person at our College,” shared Sidor. “You inspire me every day as I witness your genuine care and commitment to our students and each other. Because of you, the shining light of opportunity Lake-Sumter State College offers to every student will continue to burn brightly far into the future.”

The District Board of Trustees will determine and announce next steps for the College’s leadership this spring.
