The Bachelor of Applied Science in Strategic Leadership (SL) program at Lake-Sumter State College educates leaders to effectively manage their organizations and positively impact their communities. With approximately 60 hours on top of your AA or AS degree, you can obtain a BAS in Strategic Leadership degree from Lake-Sumter State College.
Graduates of this program have diverse career paths open to them in a broad range of industries which may include: sales, retail, small business, government, public safety, healthcare, criminal justice, and not-for-profit organizations.

Student Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of the B.A.S. Strategic Leadership program requirements, graduates will be able to:

- Evaluate information by selecting, using, and documenting research relevant to program courses, and applying current technology as appropriate.
Well-Rounded Curriculum Model
The BAS in Strategic Leadership program follows a curriculum model that prepares students to be proficient in the soft, employability skills needed by employers, such as critical thinking, communication, and collaboration, as well as the hard, technical skills that support leadership in the workplace, such as accounting, finance, human resources, marketing, legal issues, organizational behavior, and management.
The State of Florida requires students entering a Florida College System (FCS) or State University System (SUS) institution to demonstrate competency in civic literacy by the time they graduate, pursuant to s. 1007.25(5), Florida Statutes. Beginning with the 2021-2022 academic year, newly enrolled students must demonstrate competency through completion of a civic literacy course and by achieving a passing score on the Florida Civic Literacy Examination (FCLE).

Dr. Rhonda Tracy

Dr. Rhonda Tracy has over thirty years' experience in higher education in positions ranging from education professor to a state system Chancellor. Dr. Tracy believes leadership occurs at all levels and has written a leadership handbook entitled The Starting Gate that is grounded in servant leadership. She has won awards for teaching, leadership, and technology and has presented more than 100 papers at professional conferences. Dr. Tracy developed the first Leadership Academy at West Virginia University at Parkersburg and won the President's Award at Winthrop University for leadership in technology. She was appointed by Kentucky Governor Ernie Fletcher to the Kentucky Commission on Women and received the Commission's award for leadership development of young women. Dr. Tracy has a BA degree from the University of South Carolina, an MA degree from West Virginia University, and a Ph.D. from Ohio University.
