Academic Advising

Lake-Sumter State College recognizes that academic advising is integral to the achievement of our college mission. As a team of student advocates, Academic Advisors encourage, respect, and inspire students to establish and achieve their academic goals. Central to our mission includes a commitment to orient students to the college experience, support the learning process, and champion students’ efforts to make informed decisions aligned to their educational and professional aspirations.

All incoming students who have not attended post-secondary coursework at a college, university, and/or technical/vocational school must complete New Student Advising & Registration (NSAR).  This is a 90-minute group academic advising session focused on the essential information all new students must know and includes first-semester course registration.

Any student that is transferring to, re-entering, or currently enrolled at LSSC should plan to meet with an Academic Advisor prior to registering for the next semester.

Academic Advisors offer several appointment options for students including In-Person, Online (using Zoom), and over the Phone.
